Bernice H. Matzdorf, age 98, of Sheboygan passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
She was born on December 31, 1924, in Greenbush to the late Gustave and Alma (Steinberg) Schuricht. She graduated from Kiel High School. On September 27, 1947, Bernice married John Matzdorf in Glenbeulah. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1986. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
Bernice loved playing cards with family and friends, polka dancing, gardening, and watching the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks games. Above all, making memories with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren was something Bernice thoroughly enjoyed.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Held of Sheboygan and Linda (Randall) Walvoord of Oostburg; grandchildren, Steve (Nicole) Held, Jackie (Nick) Williams, Katie (EJ) Saldana, and Jonathan Walvoord; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred (Milton) Ninmer, LeRoy (Irene) Schuricht, and Frederick Schuricht.
Following Bernice’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Bernice will be laid to rest next to John in Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials in Bernice’s name can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1810 N 13th St. in Sheboygan, WI 53081.
