Beverly J. Almquist, 92, of Anderson, was reunited with the Lord and with her "Fellas" Chuck and Dan, on June 10, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on August 3, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana.
Beverly graduated from Anderson High School, class of 1950, and Felt and Tarrant Business College in Indianapolis.
She met her husband while working in the office, figuring efficiency for Guide Lamp division of General Motors.
She was room mother for her three children, den mother, Pink Lady, and owned a ceramic shop called, "A Bit of This and That by Beverly".
She was a member of the Madison County Extension Homemakers, Friendly Neighbors, Welcome Wagoneers and Willing Workers. She served as Madison County Extension president, New Castle District representative and served as State committee chairman International where she started the state logo and received the County, "Jane Award".
She had a short story in Guideposts magazine which they republished in the Holiday Publication, "Just us Girls" high school card club for 70 years, all of whom have predeceased her, except for her good friend, Jan Dixon.
She was an active member of East Lynn Christian Church and loved her church family dearly. She was famous for her black raspberry jelly which took several blue ribbons at the State Fair. She was known as Baa Baa and Grandma Yoo Hoo.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Nick) Hart and Deb Schmink; siblings, Roxanne Meeker and brother, Ron Meeker; grandchildren; Tiffany (Jeremiah) Moore, Abby (Logan) Purkey, Clint (Elizabeth) Schmink, Kylie (Neil) Schmink, Kelsey (Matt) Wendell, Karleigh (Philip) Caito, Cliff Almquist, Elly Almquist and Wynnie Almquist; daughter-in-law, Linda (David) Woschitz, son-in-law, Harry (Kelli) Schmink, 12 great-grandchildren, and one on the way, dear friend, Jeannette Schatz, as well as one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who she married September 13, 1953, Charles E. Almquist; son, Daniel Elliott Almquist, parents, Clifton and Argyl Meeker; brother, Doug Meeker; and great-grandson, Gideon Purkey.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN.
Services will be Friday, June 13, 2025, 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Steve DeFields-Gambrell officiating.
Burial will take place in the Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection League or Madison County Humane Society. www.loosecares.com.
