Beverly passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living at the age of 89. The daughter of the late Henry and Alzena (Weaver) Wanless was born January 22, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan. Beverly was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and retired as a teacher from Bangor Township Schools after 42 years of service. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends to Myrtle Beach, SC and Crystal Mountain Resort in MI, shopping trips and bus trips with her friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Beverly had a generous heart and was always giving gifts.
Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Erwin and Laura (Joe) Golombek; six grandchildren, Chas Eldridge, Casey Eldridge, Courtney (Scott) Douponce, Alex Erwin, Haylie Golombek and Payton Golombek; two great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Cameron Douponce; three sisters, Kathy (Mike) Fisher, Susan (Dan) Darland and Patti (Dave) Karp and many other family members and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Shelburg; daughter, Linda Smith as well as three brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice and Sheffield Bay for their compassion and care that they gave to Beverly.
Funeral and Committal service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Timothy Jahn with private interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church.
