Bobbie "Beebob" Lynn Waits, age 96, of Tipton County (Burlison), passed peacefully on August 15, 2025. A lifetime and devoted member of Elm Grove United Methodist Church, Bobbie's faith guided her through every season of life.

She spent many years as a payroll clerk for the Tipton County Board of Education before her retirement. Yet, even after retiring, Bobbie never truly slowed down. Her heart and hands were always devoted to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bobbie was married for 72 years to the love of her life, the late Welton Waits. Together, they built a family full of love, laughter, and cherished traditions. In their younger years, Saturday nights at The Strand were a favorite outing, and their bond was a true example of lasting devotion. Music and time with friends were something she enjoyed.

A calm, gentle, and classy woman, Bobbie carried herself with grace and was known for being a snazzy dresser. Her family fondly remembers her as the best cook they ever knew, never letting her "little bitty kitchen" stand in the way of creating feasts. Her famous chocolate toast and fudge remain unmatched. Holidays at their home were filled with love, laughter, tables all around, and warmth. So much so that the windows often had to be opened in the winter from the heat of her cooking.

Bobbie was a faithful giver to her church and always made sure the grandchildren had a dollar for the offering plate. She had a gift for sewing and could alter anything that came her way. Resourceful and hardworking, she made the best of everything, ensuring there was always enough, even when there was little. She believed in the value of work, leading her family in the garden as they prepared for winter by shelling peas, beans, corn, and more.

Her home was a place of joy, where chores became fun memories, like waxing the floors and letting her children "sled" across them on rugs. Bobbie's love extended even to the hunts of her grandsons, whatever they brought home, she was ready to cook it on the spot.

From "Mom" to "Beebob," she was one in a million. She was famous for her signature phrase, "Sure Enough," and the countless memories she gave her family will forever be cherished.

Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and cherished traditions that her family will carry with them always.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; Tony & Nina Hartsfield Fletcher, husband; Welton Waits, one sister; Sue Hayes, one son; Rodney Waits, one great-grandson; Jesse Waits, one great-great-grandson; Ryder Waits, and one daughter in law; Barbara Waits.

She is survived by one son; Danny (Kathy) Waits, one daughter; Lydia (Bo) Anderson, Daughter in law, Patsy Waits, grandchildren; Jason (Ashley) Waits, Austin (Dana) Waits, Auburn (Matt) Kizer, Jarrod (Jennifer) Waits, Keno (Erica) Anderson, AD (Anna) Waits, Kayo (Diana) Anderson, Kurt (Laura) Anderson, Keith (Casey) Anderson, Ky (Raygen) Anderson, and twenty-three great-grandchildren; Whitney, Clara Lee, Mize, Landon, Addi Keith, Chloe, Cole, Caroline, Maddox, Madden, Marley, Jack, James Welton, Clayton, Owen, Leighton, Ella, Bishop, Josie, Baylor, Mollie Keith, Margot, and Annie.

It was truly a pleasure to work with Ms. Bobbie all those years at the Board of Education. I never heard her once say anything negative about anyone and she always had a smile on her face. She helped me out more times than I can count. A wonderful lady.
