Bonnie Lou Bannister, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 14, 1944, in Waynesburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Felix Barnard and Isabella (Estep) Barnard. On May 29, 1963, she married Kenneth Wayne Bannister, who passed away February 25, 2019. Bonnie was a devoted homemaker who cherished her role as a mother above all else. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a proud member of the Scott County Saddle Club and the Pekin Saddle Club, where she shared many cherished memories alongside her late husband, Kenneth Wayne, with whom she shared a deep love for horses and the Sheriff's Posse. Later in life they became honorary members of the Sheriff's Posse. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; three sisters, Margaret Greenwood, Pearl Sebastian, and Nellie Barnard; one brother, Virgil Barnard; and a sister-in-law, Donna. Survivors include three daughters, Bonita (Mark) Shirley, Melissa (David) Bruck, Becky Johnson all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Joe Barnard of Salem, Indiana and Sam (Sharon) Barnard of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Travis (Lindsey Wyne) Shirley, Jesse (Mandy) Bruck, Ashton (Swapnesh) Nair, Dylan and Mason (Courtney Jones) Johnson and Ethan Napier; one great grandson, Tucker Shirley. Funeral Service 3:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Bro. Rodney Sweeney officiating. Visitation 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Sunday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment to follow services at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Online condolences:www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
