Brenda Kay Carter, age 68, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at her home in Bloomington, IL, surrounded by the love of her family. Brenda is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, David Lee Carter; her sons, David Michael (Christina) Carter and Jeremy Joseph Carter; and her cherished grandchildren, Gavin, Addisyn, and Landyn. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill (Nancy) Brown, Ronnie (Connie) Brown, Donnie (Judy) Brown; her sister, Bev (Ted) Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred (Payton) Brown.
Born in Louisville, KY on July 26, 1956, Brenda graduated from Fairdale High School. She dedicated many years in Kentucky as a teacher’s aide, where she found great joy working with children. After moving to Illinois, she continued serving families and children as a school bus driver, ensuring students arrived safely each day with her bright spirit. While raising her own children, Brenda was actively involved in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, always lending her time and heart to support others. Brenda was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She lived a life marked by kindness, service, and love—and now, she rejoices in the presence of Jesus, fully healed and at peace.
The family invite guests to visit with them from 3:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, June 13th at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). A service honoring her life will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, June14th beginning at 10:00 am, following the service, a procession to Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105), a cause dear to Brenda’s heart.
