Rowlett, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
Brenda was the cherished daughter of the late Arlene and Manon Abernathy. Also preceding her were her siblings Okeith and Deana Abernathy. She was a loving wife to Gary Wayne Gardner, her devoted husband of 58 years, and a guiding light to her son, Michael Gardner. Brenda's legacy continues through her grandson, Tyler Gardner, who she adored with every ounce of her being. Her sisters, Shirley Lynch and Kathi Barker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will fondly remember Brenda's kind spirit and gentle guidance.
After graduating from Kimball High School in Duncanville, Texas, Brenda embarked on a career that mirrored her engaging personality and keen intellect. She excelled in front desk hotel management, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and valued. Brenda later brought her talents to Southwest Airlines where her voice became the first comforting connection for countless employees.
Brenda's life was also defined by her role as a proud Navy military wife. For 28 years, she supported her husband's career with unwavering strength and grace, embodying the resilience and adaptability that is the hallmark of military families. Her commitment to her family was unparalleled, and she managed each relocation and challenge with a positive outlook that inspired all who knew her.
An ardent lover of arts and crafts, Brenda found joy and fulfillment in creating beautiful things with her hands. Her artistic endeavors were not just a hobby but a way of sharing her love and creativity with the world. Friends and family will remember the care and attention she put into each piece, a reflection of her loving nature.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett. Brenda will be inurned at Dallas/Fort Worth Nation Cemetery.
