Brenda Joyce (Mills) Matthews, 77, passed away January 7, 2025. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.
Brenda was born on January 17, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to James Mills and Marjorie (Reid) Mills. She married Richard Matthews on August 23, 1973. He lovingly survives.
Other survivors include her children, Robert Matthews, Tamara Harold, Ronald Matthews (Missy), J.D. Mills, and Sandra Bowman; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, James and Marjorie, and brother, Dale Mills.
Brenda was a 1966 graduate of Franklin Community High School as well as cosmetology school. She worked as a hairdresser for many years before her retirement.
She was a lifetime member of Victory Christian Church where she was very active for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School as well as Preschool classes. She was also a longtime member of the Franklin Senior Center where she and her husband enjoyed playing cards. She even volunteered for Americare Hospice.
Brenda was a beloved wife of 51 years, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was loved by her family, church family, and many others. Brenda loved the Lord and it was evident she loved others.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

I'm SO sorry for your loss! Brenda was an amazing woman. She was blessed with a happy/pretty smile. She was a good listener too. She will be missed greatly!
