Brenda Ward Oxendine

Hendersonville – Brenda Kay Ward Oxendine, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
Brenda was born at Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville, NC to the late Fred Ward and Bertha Mae Johnson. In addition to her parents, Brenda was also preceded in death by her loving husband Perry Oxendine, daughter-in-law, Teresa Johnson Cairnes; best friend, Faye Brewer and many other loved family members.
She graduated from East Henderson High School. While working at Community Cash and World of Clothing, Brenda sought to bring a smile to each customer's face. Brenda married the late Perry Oxendine and lived in Roan Mountain, TN where they raised their loving family. She was a dedicated CNA for many years. She loved God and wanted to share His love with others. She constantly crocheted Bible bookmarks and gave them to people in the name of the Lord. She loved gospel music and going to church with her sister and grandchildren. During her free time, she enjoyed going to thrift stores and eating out at a good restaurant.
Those left to cherish Brenda's memory include her three children, Marvin Kenneth Cairnes, Kathy Cairnes Sinclair, and Jack Oxendine; her grandchildren, Nick Oxendine, Jonnie Cairnes, and April Barsi; her brother John Ward; sister Linda Smith; niece, Pamela Lovin and extended family members. A special mention to Brian Oxendine, Terry Oxendine, Andrea Vinyard, Michelle Oxendine, Barry Huddleston and Janet Huddleston.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Fruitland Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Pace officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church.
The graveside service will follow in the Ward Cemetery in Zirconia, NC. Pallbearers will be Jonathon Ward, Eddie Ward, Bryan Ward, Brandon Ward, Tony Moore, and Dale Carnett.
