Bruce Roger Huguelet of Mason, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, after a courageous and determined 20-year battle with two forms of cancer. He was 80 years old.
Born on May 6, 1944, to Edmund and Gertrude Huguelet, Bruce was raised in Haslett, Michigan, and graduated with the Haslett High School Class of 1962. He started his career in the automotive industry after training at the Ford Motor School. His talents led him Pepsi Cola where he worked as a diesel fleet mechanic for 30 years before retiring in 2006. A true blue-collar man, Bruce was known for his honesty, strong work ethic, and unwavering reliability.
Bruce had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether it was woodworking, home projects, or tinkering in the garage, he found joy in working with his hands. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and westerns, and he especially loved family camping trips to Brimley State Park. More than anything, Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Terry; six children: Bruce Huguelet II, Denise (Shawn) Lafrinere, Jennifer Smith, Brett (Lacey) Huguelet, Torie Huguelet, and Julie Huguelet; four grandchildren: Allison Smith, Lauren (Zach) Moehrman, Bryce Huguelet, and Kensington Mazurek; one great-grandson, Brantley Moehrman; his sister, Cherie Larsen; and sister-in-law, Sandy Cady. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rex and Gary; and brother-in-law, Daryl Larsen.
Bruce's strength, love, and loyalty were deeply felt by his family, whom he fought for until his final days. His body was a little more hurt, but now he is a lot more free.
Bruce, the stubborn man that he was, demanded that there be no formal service, just "the cheapest thing and a pizza party" at a later date.
Those wishing to honor his memory may consider a donation to McLaren Hospice.
