C. Lorenzo Pope

C. Lorenzo Pope, known to friends and family as Ren, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. Born to James and Dorothy Pope on November 25, 1944, Lorenzo's life was one of courage, generosity, and dedication. He was a brilliant scientist, an accomplished businessman, and a beloved figure in his community. His commitment to his work in rice research spanned over 45 years, and his contributions have left a lasting impact. His generosity of spirit was evident to everyone who knew him, and his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those left behind.
Ren had immeasurable love for his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was married to his beloved wife, Nancy, for over 55 years, and together they raised eight children. Ren's love extended to his 42 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who all held a special place in his heart. Ren was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and travel, activities he often shared with his family.
A man of faith and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ren served his community with unwavering dedication. His roles included Executive Secretary, Counselor in several bishoprics, High Counselor, Bishop, and Temple Worker. He was a dedicated member of the Provo Pioneer Village and Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Even during health challenges in his later years, Lorenzo exemplified a spirit of generosity, always thinking of others and serving them.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00 am MDT at the Edgemont South Stake Center, located at 2950 N. Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. A graveside service will follow at the Provo City Cemetery, located at 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah.
