Candelario "Cande" Jimenez

Candelario "Cande" Jimenez, 89, of Rockdale, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 in Baylor, Scott, and White Medical Center in Temple. He was born on July 6, 1933 to Vincente and Fransisca (Contreras) Jimenez in Rockdale. He was a lifelong resident of Rockdale and attended Rockdale schools. He proudly served in the United States Army and fought bravely in the Korean War. On January 14, 1956, he married Mary Helen Lopez in Rockdale. He worked at HP Zachary as a foreman supervisor for 35 years until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed hiking, camping, antiques, and western movies. He was a sports fan and enjoyed coaching baseball. His always enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, especially #99 Judge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincente and Fransisca Jimenez; a daughter, Guadalupe Jimenez; sisters, Concha Hudson and Ofelia Lopez; and brothers, George Jimenez and Vincente Jimenez.
Cande is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Helen Jimenez of Rockdale; sons, Juan Antonio Jimenez of Rockdale, and Vincent Edward Jimenez and wife Christina of Rockdale; daughter, Valerie Jimenez of Rockdale; grandchildren, Patrick Jimenez and wife Vicky of Taylor, Cory Jimenez of Rockdale, Katrina DeLeon and Jerry Wilson of Durant, OK, John DeLeon and Lindsey Deel of Big Spring, Marcus DeLeon of Waco, Hanna Jimenez of Dallas, Havan Jimenez, and Halle Jimenez of Rockdale; great grandchildren, Christian Jimenez, James Alcoser, Julia Ortiz, Eric Soto, Martin Jimenez, Mackenzie Jimenez, Olivia Ann Wilson, Kinsley Laila Wilson, Adrian DeLeon, and Raylee Rose Jimenez; and sister, Sofie Norman and husband Manuel of Rockdale.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with Father Pedro Castillo officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. A visitation will be 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey in Rockdale.
