Carl Gilliam, age 80, of Olive Hill, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born January 30, 1942, in Carter County, he was a son of the late Emil Gilliam and Ruth Mabry Gilliam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie D. Porter Gilliam on September 26, 2009, and two brothers, Roger Dale Gilliam, and Emil "Eddie" Gilliam.
He is survived by one son, Timothy (Carol) Gilliam; one daughter, Tammy Jean Gilliam, all of Niles, Ohio; two brothers, Charles "Starkey" (Iris) Gilliam of Niles, Ohio, and Stevie Gilliam of Olive Hill; two sisters, Beverly Oakley of Olive Hill and Linda Sue (Joe) Povinelli of Indianapolis, Indiana; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other extended family.
Carl served in the U.S. Army for three years and retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and westerns, gardening, and mowing his yard. Carl loved living in Kentucky and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chaple with Brother Vaughn Thornsberry officiating. Burial will follow in Gilliam Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Pallbearers: Chris Oakley, Christopher Oakley, Timothy Gilliam, Shawn Gilliam, Jazlyn Oakley, Donna Oakley, Joe Povinelli, and Steve Gilliam.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
