Carlo Magno Adriano, 93, of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Born on April 11, 1932, in Malolos City, Bulacan, Philippines, Carlo was the beloved son of the late Rustico and Leonarda Adriano. Carlo is the second sibling of four children. He was the devoted husband of Lourdes Adriano, with whom he shared a life of unconditional faith, love, and service. Carlo is the loving father to Jovita, Oliviera, Josephine, Maria Victoria and grandfather to seven grand-children and two great grand-children.
Carlo spent his early career as a typist for The Manila Times from 1955 to 1972. Beyond his professional life, he was known for his deep spiritual devotion and unwavering commitment to his Catholic faith. In 1968, he became a member of Cursillo Number 57 in the Diocese of Malolos, where he lived as Brother Carlo of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. His days were filled with prayer, study, and a profound dedication to walking the path of holiness.
A spiritual healer to many, Carlo generously offered comfort and care to those in need-tending to both physical and spiritual ailments with compassion and grace. He was a humble servant of God, always seeking to be a source of light for others. From Carlo's teenage years, he devoted himself, along with his family, in taking care of Jesus of Nazarene, especially during the Lenten Season.
In 1996, Carlo immigrated to the United States with his wife, Lourdes, and made Staten Island, New York their home. He remained a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, touching countless lives with his wisdom, warmth, and faith.
Carlo was a man of remarkable intellect and curiosity. He was well-read, deeply reflective, and often wrote prayers in both Latin and Tagalog. He spoke to God with reverence and clarity. Outside of his spiritual life, he found joy in tinkering, carpentry, and repairing anything that came his way. He had an uncanny ability to take things apart and put them back together better than before-there was truly nothing he couldn't fix. Carlo's hands were as skilled as his heart was kind, and he approached every project, prayer, and person with patience, thoughtfulness, and care.
Carlo will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his enduring kindness, and his tireless dedication to others. His legacy of love and healing will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday May 9, 2025 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Road, Staten ISland, NY 10312. Private Cremation to follow.
