Carlos M. Ortiz was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, on April 16, 1958, and raised in Newark, NJ. Carlos passed away on July 18, 2025. A proud graduate of East Side High School, Class of 1976, he was a member of the fencing team that became state champions. He dedicated 29 years of service to UPS at Newark Airport, earning the respect of all who worked alongside him. Carlos was the devoted husband of the late Patricia R. Ortiz and a "super dad" to his surviving daughters, Teresa Valentin, Emma Serrano, and the late Rebecca Wapinsky. He was a cherished Pop Pop to 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

The beloved son of Pedro Ortiz and the late Isabel Ortiz Núñez, Carlos is lovingly remembered by his siblings Lucy Ortiz, Elizabeth Ortiz, Maritza Ortiz, Yvette Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz Jr., Ramon Ortiz, and he is reunited in peace with his brother, the late Victor M. Ortiz. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral services on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 04:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at (Villa Americas Funeral Home located at 279 Roseville Avenue Newark, NJ 07107).
