Catherine "Cathy" Lange, aged 63, passed away on November 27, 2023. She was born on October 31, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late William and Judith Buckler. Cathy grew up in Southfield, and later, she made Hazel Park her home with her beloved late husband Leonard "Lenny" Lange. Their marriage lasted 26 cherished years until Lenny's passing in 2020. Together, they lovingly raised their sons, Ian and Chris (Chelsea), who brought immeasurable joy into her life. Cathy was immensely proud of her role as a grandmother to Brendan and Adam Lange. She was also a dear sister to Shawn Buckler (Cheryl) and a proud aunt, cousin, and niece to her extended family.
Throughout her life, Cathy's career journey was diverse and fulfilling. Initially a skilled hairdresser, she even operated a friends and family salon from her basement for a period. Transitioning into the field of education, she dedicated 25 years as a paraprofessional in the Hazel Park School District, finding genuine fulfillment in both educating young minds and styling hair. Beyond her professional pursuits, Cathy's creative spirit thrived through painting on canvas, drawing, and exploring various art forms. She found solace in travel and cherished moments spent on the beach, always eager to share these experiences with loved ones.
Known for her warmth and infectious sense of humor, Cathy drew people toward her effortlessly. Her home was always open, especially during holidays when she delighted in hosting family gatherings. However, her greatest source of happiness lay in the love and care she poured into raising her two sons.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Cathy's life will be held on Saturday, December 9th, starting at 10:00 am until the time of Sharing of Memories at 2:00 pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road, Royal Oak (4 blocks E. of Woodward). Please honor Cathy's memory by sharing your cherished stories and memories on the 9th in person or online at SullivanFuneralDirectors.com
