Charlene Marie Smith (nee Laramie), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Jim Smith; devoted mother of Holly Smith and Vicki Amormino; loving grandmother of Alex (MJ) Watkins, Dakota Kramer, Chase Penuel, Nicholas Kramer, Tucker Kramer, Jimmy (Lilac) Penuel, Reece Amormino; great-grandmother of Kyler Penuel, Falyn Watkins, and Rylee Watkins; dear sister of Sharon (Fred) Rush; beloved sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin to many. Charlene was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorothy and Lambert Laramie, and brother, Lambert Laramie.
Charlene was married for 56 years to her beloved husband, Jim, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a sassy yet classy personality and a creative spirit that shone through in everything she did—from planning family members' weddings to volunteering her time in charity work. A proud and involved mother, she was deeply engaged in her daughters’ lives and school activities. Charlene found joy in gardening, helping others, and especially in caring for her cherished grandchildren. A lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a graduate of St. Charles High School, Charlene lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Charlene's name to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
