GREENFIELD – Charles Ray Brammer, age 83, of Greenfield, formerly of Knightstown, met his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born and raised in Henry County on March 15, 1942, to Melvie Charles and Dorothy Lucille (Ulrey) Brammer. He graduated from Knightstown High School in 1960. He served in the ARMY during the Korean and Vietnam Wars for six years. He was ranked SP4. In 1965, PFC Brammer was named "Outstanding Soldier" of the 13th Sig. Bn., 1st CAV division Korea at the USO Honor Day Gold Plate Dinner. The last few class reunions he enjoyed wearing his "Senior Cords" which was a popular thing during his high school years. He married Beverly Ann (Jarosz) on February 14, 1976, at Center Christian Church in Mays, Indiana.

Charles worked for Allison Gas Turbine, a division of General Motors, in Inventory Control for thirty years before retiring on March 1, 1993. He also drove a school bus for seventeen years for the Charles A. Beard School Corporation. He was a member of the American Legion Post #152 of Knightstown, and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greenfield. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports, especially following IU, and loved anything golf. Charles' most favorite times were always spent with family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Brammer; son, Charles Ryan Brammer; sister, Delona Mae (Danny) Vaughn; nephews, John Cox and Rodney (Debi) Cox; and niece, Rene (Scotty) Gulley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvie Charles and Dorothy Lucille Brammer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:30 p.m. Father Aaron Jenkins will be officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the American Legion Knightstown Post #152, 224 East Main Street, Knightstown, IN 46148. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
