Charles Michael "Mike" Brown, Sr., 79, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 9, 2024, following a brief illness. Mike was born on June 8, 1945, in Rome, Georgia to Charles Edwin Brown and Edna Fay (Sloman) Brown.
He was so proud to serve his country and his community. He joined the United States Air Force in 1962 at the age of 17 and served until 1966. He entered law enforcement in Cartersville, GA in 1969 where he graduated from the FBI Academy. In 1977, he started with the Roswell, GA Police Department where he earned his college degree. He also completed many hours of specialized training. He retired after serving over 33 years in 2010. He loved John Wayne movies, NASCAR, University of Tennessee football, cooking, fishing, motorcycle riding and especially loved barbecuing on his pellet smoker. His smoked pork was legendary!
Mike is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Ceil Brown. He is also survived by daughter Nicole (Steve) Taylor, son Michael (Ericka) Brown, grandchildren Daila Dillard (Cameron Cochran), Payton Brown, Brooke Hutchinson (Louis Prioreschi), Rhianna Adams, Kenzie Adams, great-granddaughters, Melanie Lynn Cochran and Allessandra Prioreschi, great-grandson Kyle Haight, his sisters June Crowder of Cartersville and Joan (Richard) Yeates of Vancouver, WA, nephews Michael (Patty) Crowder, Mark (Rachael) Crowder, Jeff (Jessica) Yeates and niece Jennifer (Jason) Langlais.
On Monday, August 26th, a military funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA. A police escorted procession will leave Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Dr., Woodstock, GA at 12 p.m. For those who want to be in the procession versus going directly to the cemetery, you are asked to arrive at the funeral home by 11:45 a.m.. Immediately following the funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held at Guston's Grille, 12195 Hwy 92, #156, Woodstock, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org
