A lifelong resident of Mooresville, Charles was a proud graduate of Mooresville High School where he was a standout for the Pioneer football team, playing both offense and defense. After high school, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy.
He then served in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He was a nuclear weapons officer and served aboard many ships, including destroyers. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He returned home to work as an industrial engineer for General Dynamics for 20 years, before retiring.

He was also a faithful member of the Friends Church in Mooresville throughout his life. He married the love of his life Barbara, on June 11, 1955, and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage next month. He will be remembered for his love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his tenacity, and his love for the Navy (Go Navy! Beat Army!)
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert D. Hagee and a sister Julia A. Hagee Lansberry.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Barbara (Stembel) Hagee, sons Robert Hagee (Luanne), Bryan Hagee (Laura Lundberg), grandchildren Charles, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Catherine, Eric, Ian, great grandchildren Isabelle, Rosalie, Irvin, Eleanor, and Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
