Charles L. Pierce, 86, passed away on August 1, 2024. He was known to family and friends as Chuck or Charlie. Charles was born on February 19, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the third of eight siblings. 

Charles joined the United States Air Force in 1955, working as an aircraft maintainer most of his career and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the USAF after serving 22 years. 

Charles pursued his passion for learning and love of history receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in History/Geography from Weber State University in 1984. He later worked for Sears as an appliance repair technician until he retired at age 60.

Charles married Elizabeth (Liz) in July 1979, they lived in Layton, Roy and later Creekside Senior Living in Bountiful Utah. They had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. 

Charles was a member of the Layton Hills Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Elks Club. He was a skilled handyman, he could fix almost anything and loved to tinker on and restore old cars. One of his favorite hobbies was searching to find “treasures” at second-hand stores. He loved restoring old clocks and lamps, among many things. He was an avid model builder (airplanes especially) and spent much of his free time putting together puzzles. He always loved to play games, especially card games with family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, his devotion to his wife Liz, and the love he had for his family. 

Charles is survived by his wife Elizabeth Pierce, children: Stuart (Jennifer) Pierce, Stacie Pierce, Steven (Jen) Pierce, Michael Erskine, Kelley (Ivan) Quintarelli, Richard (Cynthia) Erskine, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings: Teresa Youngblut, Dennis Pierce and Larry (Cyndi) Pierce.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Pierce, his sisters: Florence McLaughlin, Barbara Gonzales, Edna Struk and brother Hugh Pierce. 

A Graveside Service will be held on September 6th, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lindquist Memorial Park Layton, Wasatch Lawn, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah 84041.
