Chase Justin Ogerly, 17, of Caddo Mills, Texas, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2025.
Chase was born November 15, 2007, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Sheri and Shannon Ogerly. From the time he was little, Chase's heart was full of curiosity, adventure and passion. Whether it was playing baseball, hunting, caring for and riding horses or playing with his dogs, he loved to be outside getting his hands dirty.
As he got older, he continued to grow and challenge himself. Chase was good with his hands, and he had a passion for hard work. He most recently attended Caddo Mills High School and moved to online schooling so he could graduate early and join the workforce. He aspired to work either in the oilfield as a welder or to serve in the U.S. Army Special Forces. Never shying away from physical labor Chase often sought out odd jobs around Caddo to keep busy and help where he could.
He especially loved working for Diamond B Equestrian Center helping with riding lessons, general labor and any other little job he could get his hands on. As a toddler, he always had a passion for rodeo and at the age of 12 he started bull riding. He competed in Lonestar High School Rodeo Association in Athens, Texas, and Texas High School Rodeo Association Region IV in Sulfur Springs, Texas. In his spare time when he wasn't riding bulls, he could be found riding dirt bikes, playing basketball and video games, riding horses, spending time with friends, or occasionally attending Wednesday night service at One Church (Caddo Mills).
Chase's heart was clear to anyone he met, and everywhere Chase went, those around him felt how much he cared, how hard he loved, and saw how giving he always was. If anyone needed anything at all, an extra pencil in class or a hand through tough times, Chase would be there alongside them to help. His family more than anyone felt his love, and they cherish the time they got to share with him. Whether it was animals needing rescued, a friend in need or his sister needing a shoulder to cry on, you could always count on him.
Remaining to cherish Chase's memory are father Shannon Ogerly of Caddo Mills; sister Lauren Ogerly Read and husband Jason Read of Lubbock; grandparents Susan and Stan Mitchell of Lubbock; great grandmother Patricia Justin of Lubbock; grandfather Darrell Ogerly of Longview; uncles and aunts Kerry and Debbie Ogerly of Lubbock, and Scott and Leslie Mitchell of Aledo.
Preceding Chase in death are mother Sheri Mitchell Ogerly and grandmother, Joann Ogerly.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Stubblefield officiating.
Memorial donations in Chase's memory may be directed to the Texas High School Rodeo Association - Region IV.
