New Iberia – A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at First Methodist Church for Cheryl Ann LeBlanc, 76, who passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Rev. Xavier Torres will officiate.
Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
Cheryl Ann LeBlanc was born on November 5, 1948, to the late Noelus and Edith Bourque LeBlanc, and was a 1966 graduate of New Iberia High School. She worked as a secretary for Jim Tatman Mobile Homes, and also found fulfillment working in the nursery at First Methodist Church in New Iberia, sharing her care and kindness with the children and families there.
As a loving mother and doting grandmother, Cheryl held a special place in her grandsons' lives. She was their biggest supporter, attending every event they participated in and cherishing the time spent together. The moments they shared will forever be etched in their hearts.
Cheryl's love for the small pleasures in life was evident in her daily enjoyments; Dr. Pepper was her drink of choice, often accompanied by delightful sweet treats. Before her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, Cheryl found immense joy in dancing, reading and playing Pokeno with friends. Those memories of laughter and camaraderie continue to resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ms. LeBlanc is survived by daughters, Christi Bailey (Toby) and Niki Chauvin-August (Lynn); grandchildren, Matthew Louviere (Morgan), Justin Bailey, Alex Louviere, Peyton Bailey, and Ethan Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Ainslee Breaux, Tatum Bailey, Norah Louviere, and one more due in July.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Keirman Leblanc, Wilton “Lou Lou” LeBlanc, Hilda Barrilleaux, and Glory Bonin.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Belle Teche Nursing Home; Heart of Hospice; caregivers, Dorothy Zenon and Jasmine Thomas; and her case manager, Kelly Southern for extraordinary care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Cheryl’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
