Chris Ann Schmeltzer

Fort Myers -- Chris Ann Schmeltzer, age 72, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Rittman, passed away, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, following a period of declining health.

Chris was born on July 8, 1953, in Lodi, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Betty (Young) Smoot. On June 25, 1971, she married the love of her life, Robert L. Schmeltzer, beginning a devoted and enduring marriage that spanned more than five decades and was marked by deep love, steadfast commitment, and shared joy. Robert survives her and will forever cherish the life and memories they built together.

She graduated from Rittman High School, class of 1971 and attended Wayne College. Chris went on to work as a manager for Dayson Polymers for 19 years.

Chris enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing darts.

In addition to her loving husband, Robert, Chris is survived by her two sons, Brent Schmeltzer of Rittman, and Chad (Chrissy) Schmeltzer of Orrville; grandchildren, Caden and Sebastian Schmeltzer; Baily (Taylor) Schmeltzer of Columbus; Hunter (Deanna) Schmeltzer of Parma; two sisters, Connie (Bill) Krauss of Wadsworth, and Karen (Mike) Schmeltzer of Wadsworth.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
