Chris Phillip Stamatis

Chris Philip Stamatis was called home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2022. Chris was a beloved husband, father, son and brother who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He had battled with dementia for years and finally succumbed to its effects.
Chris was born November 14, 1939, to James and Nula Stamatis; he was the oldest of three sons. His brothers, "Doc" John and Dean, were much loved and were cornerstones in his life. Chris valued few things more important than family, as he embodied the Big Fat Greek Family culture and passed that value onto his three children.
Chris was a lifelong native of Oklahoma and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, which remained a cherished part of him for the rest of his life. Immediately following graduation from OU, Chris entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany for 2 years, where he often reminisced. In 1964, he returned home to help run the Stamatis Family business, American Cleaners and Laundry, which remained in the Stamatis family until Chris retired in 2002.
Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed with friends, family, and numerous members of the Business Boosters Club, which he remained an active member from 1978 until his death. He cherished his Greek roots and was immeasurably blessed by his extended Greek family that spans across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.
Chris is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Meg, his oldest son James Justin, wife Kelli and grandsons Davin and Dane; son Ryan, wife Brooke and daughters Addison and Carrington; and daughter Kristin, her husband Drew, daughter Ava and son Dalon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St George Greek Orthodox Church, the Wounded Warriors Project, or Tunnel to Towers Foundations would be of great value.
A funeral will be held to remember and honor the life of Chris at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Oklahoma City on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:30AM. A Trisagion service will be held the night before the funeral at Crawford Family Funeral Service in Edmond, at 7:00PM, Friday, August 19, 2022.
