It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Chris Crawford, born Christine Louise Utley on October 12, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. Chris left this world peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 72. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, whose gentle spirit and compassion touched the hearts of many.

Chris was the cherished daughter of Charlie and Louise Utley, who were both born in Texas and married in Galveston before relocating to Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up alongside her two sisters, Susan and Jayne, who were her lifelong companions and confidantes. Chris graduated from Richmond Heights High School in 1972 and earned an undergraduate degree in Art History from Ohio State University, followed by a master's in education from the University of South Florida.

Chris made the bold decision to move to Florida, where she dedicated 30 years of her life to Pinellas Technical College as a counsellor and grant administrator. Her commitment to education and her students was unwavering, and she was known for her kindness, wisdom, and ability to inspire those around her.

Chris married the love of her life, Norman Woodrow Crawford, affectionately known as Woody. Together, they embraced a carefree lifestyle, choosing to focus on their friendships and shared adventures. Their bond was a testament to love and companionship, and Chris continued to honor Woody's memory after his passing at the age of 72.

Following Woody's death, Chris found solace in her art projects, travel, and caring for her mother, who lived to the remarkable age of 101 and passed away in 2019. Chris's creativity and flare for art were evident in everything she did, and she remained a source of strength and support for her family and friends.

Chris is survived by her beloved sister Jayne, as well as a host of nephews and nieces who adored her: Dan, Jenifer, Cindy, Kalyani, Shane, Ben, Joey, Josh, Jessica, Savannah, Abby, Samson, Hopi, Olivia, Amelia, Dylan, Alex, Julia, Charlie, Lilly, and Hailey. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and the memories of the love she shared.

As we remember Chris, we celebrate her life-a life filled with art, education, and the joy of friendship and family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held in late November to honor her life and the impact she made on so many.
