Christine Popescu

Christine Popescu (nee Leggieri) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, at the age of 82. Christine was born June 11, 1942 to Pauline and Antonio Leggieri in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, joining her older sister Josephine in the little house on Duffield Street. A tomboy as a little girl, Chris soon developed a love for all things feminine and left school to study cosmetology, becoming a hairdresser. Marriage to her first husband, Ron Costello, and motherhood led her to leave the salon behind, busy with raising her sons Paul, David, and Matthew Costello. After the boys were grown, Chris returned to the workforce, first as a bank teller and then as a sales associate for a gift shop. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed scouring flea markets for antiques. She had a great eye for fashion and interior design, and was always stylishly dressed, with hair, makeup, and nails done perfectly.
In her later life, she married Miron Popescu and resided in Fort Myers Florida. They enjoyed traveling and hosting her family for fun visits. Chris enjoyed cooking, bowling, the casinos and sipping her wine. She was always warm, welcoming and always had a smile on her face.
It made her happy when she made other people happy. Chris never spoke an unkind word about anyone.
She lived a life full of love and dedication to her family.
Christine is preceded in death by her cherished sons, Paul Costello, David Costello, and Matthew Costello. Her memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family, including her devoted husband, Miron "Mike" Popescu; her loving children, Stefan and Mindy Popescu, Arlin and Chuck Wilson, and Cathy Costello.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Shawn and Tyler Costello, Jake and Griffin Popescu, and Gavin Wilson. Christine's presence will also be dearly missed by her niece, Joanne (Jeff) Bates.
A graveside service to honor Christine's life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 1 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 333 County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
Christine's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
