Christopher David "Chris" Mears, 43, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, August 13th, 2025. He was born June 1st, 1982 in Battle Creek, Michigan to his parents David L. and Raenita D. (Frye) Mears.

Chris is survived by his loving parents, David and Raenita Mears of Lombard, Illinois; his special K-9 friend, Gnarly; and his significant other, Jasmine Konefsky. He also had a special relationship with Marlene, Jack and Todd Willbur who were important during his childhood and remained so to his death.

Chris, a graduate of Warren Central High School in 2000, embraced the call to serve in the United States Army, honorably discharging in 2004. He pursued his passion for helping others by earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. A creative spirit at heart, Chris explored various art forms, from oil painting on canvas to designing unique t-shirts designs showcasing his individuality. His thirst for knowledge was reflected in his insightful and well informed conversations and even started his desire to pursue his Masters degree in law. His love of rescue saved multiple dogs and is where he found Gnarly his service dog. His loving and generous nature, paired with his remarkable sense of humor, inspired those around him to embrace their own uniqueness.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
