Clark Richard Spaulding, 86, formerly of Stuart Street, passed away July 11, 2024 at Samaritan Keep Home, where he had been a resident since November 2023.
Mr. Spaulding was born October 28, 1937 in Malone, NY, son of Orton and Ethel Spaulding. He attended Syracuse University and graduated from Clarkson University with a Masters in mathematics. Mr. Spaulding was a teacher in Chateaugay for one year, Star Lake for one year, North Junior High School and retired from the Watertown School District. He spent most of his years teaching at Case Jr. High School, retiring in 1994. Mr. Spaulding was an expert chess player, playing in tournaments and organizing the Chess club at Junior High School.
He married Phyllis A. Catura on December 14, 1963 at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls, NY.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Richard O. (Rita) Spaulding, Manchester, NY, a daughter, Ellen Marie (David) Christoph, San Antonio, TX, a grandson, Ethan David Christoph, two sisters, Beth Barnett, Wilmington, NC, Sue Curtis, Gloster, VA, a sister-in-law, Sheila Spaulding, Bangor, NY, several nieces and nephews. He is pre deceased by his parents, three brothers, Pat, Allen, and Andy.
A graveside service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11 am in Sand Hill Cemetery, 1472 Co Rt 5, Brushton, NY, across the street from Sand Hill Church.
