Concetta "Connie" Deo, 83, of Medford, formerly of Maplewood, Berkeley Heights, and Lakewood, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Voorhees, New Jersey. Born on June 29, 1941, in Newark, NJ, Connie's vibrant spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Deo, and her parents, Nick and Fay Yanuzelli. Her legacy continues through her sons, Michael P. Deo (Concetta) and Steven N. Deo (Brenda); her adored grandchildren, Kayden, Gia, and Cynthia; her loving sister, Mary Fink (Richard); nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and colleagues.
A proud graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1959, Connie's artistic talents led her to a fulfilling career as a graphic artist for Suburban News in Westfield, where she worked until her retirement in 1998. Her creativity and keen eye for design were not only evident in her professional work but also in the beautiful and welcoming home she made for her family.
Connie's life was a testament to the joy of family and the importance of tradition. She was the heart of every family gathering, where she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, sharing stories and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Her Italian heritage shone brightly in her kitchen, where she prepared full-on banquets, much to the delight of her loved ones. Her cooking was not just about the food but about the love and connection it fostered.
Her home was a reflection of her love for life and celebration. Connie took great pleasure in decorating for all the holidays, transforming her space into a festive wonderland that brought joy to everyone who entered. Her thoughtful touches and attention to detail made every occasion special.
Connie's wisdom and insight were gifts she shared freely, offering guidance and support to those around her. She was a confidante and a role model, embodying the virtues of love and thoughtfulness in every aspect of her life.
Music filled Connie's home and heart, with the melodies of Connie Francis and Elvis Presley often serving as the soundtrack to her days. Her love for music was infectious, and it was not uncommon to find her humming along or dancing to her favorite tunes.
Connie's presence was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the epitome of loving, thoughtful, and wise-a true matriarch who led by example and left an indelible mark on the world. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to feel the warmth of her love.
