Cynthia Ann Tew, 65, of Chesapeake, VA, joined her heavenly family and gained her angel wings on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
Cindy was born in Portsmouth, VA and was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, VA. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin W. Spruill, Jr. and Harriet A. Seigel of Chesapeake, VA. She was a 38-year employee of the city of Chesapeake working as Records Manager for the Department of Development and Permits.
In addition to her father, Cindy was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Johnnie M. Tew, and stepfather Stanley R. Seigel. Left to cherish her memory; her mother Harriet A. Seigel; daughter, Devin M. Spruill; granddaughter, Haley N. Pullie; brother Gary W. Spruill and wife Delaine R. Spruill; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and a very special grandpup, Roscoe.
Cindy was many things to many people. Cindy was a beautiful and devoted daughter. She was a loving and kind wife. She was a strong and protective Momma. She was a caring and nurturing Nona. She was a bubbly and humorous sister. She was a sweet and thoughtful cousin. She was a classy and hardworking co-worker. She was a friend to many.
Cindy had a love for skincare and makeup products, and she always looked her best. She enjoyed eating crab legs, trying new recipes and making family favorites. Her treasured dishes for the holidays were baked ham, broccoli casserole, pineapple pie, and Watergate salad. She loved watching a good T.V. sitcom, and she was a loyal supporter of QVC.
Cindy had a love for 70's rock – The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were her favorites. She loved classic 90's country music too. She was always listening to artists like Randy Travis, Alan Jackson or Reba McEntire. But her all-time favorite country singer was George Strait. To remember Cindy, take a minute to listen to one of George Strait's many hit songs - "Clear Blue Sky", "Love Without End, Amen", "The Fireman", or "Troubadour".
Cindy was so loved by her family and friends. It is certain that "She'll Leave You With A Smile".
The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held sometime in April.

What an exceptional coworker Cindy was to me and hundreds of other employees she worked with over the years. Add to that the thousands of citizens, developers and consultants who she served over the many years; that is quite an impact she had being the friendly face for the City. She had an admirable work ethic and her laughter over even the simplest of things was contagious. Going into the Records Room, which was her kingdom, was always a good experience because she was the Records Room. She made it a point to know about all my kids that Devin would babysit for. I knew her well enough to know that she is in the loving care of our Lord.
