I was shocked and saddened to learn today ( April 2022) of Dale's death last August.
Dale and I were married years ago and despite divorce, kept in touch till about 5 years ago. Here is a little about his life:
Dale put himself through college and graduate school after serving in the Navy. He received his Phd. from the University of Michigan in Geology and Oceanography and did his thesis on The Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Dale traveled a great deal with his work, living in Alaska, Texas, California as well as Arizona. He worked for Exxon for many years. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling in his camper van.
Dale was an expert Marksman. Shooting was his hobby. He did it for skill, rather than hunting. Last we spoke he had achieved the highest non military marksmanship rating. Fewer than 2000 individuals had achieved that honor.
Dr. Dale was a proud graduate of University of Michgan. He had told me that he was donating his estate, upon his death, to the university to set up a scholarship for students in the future.
Though we grew apart in interests, Dale will always had a place in my heart. RIP, Dale.
