Daniel L. Hoban died on May 24, 2024, in
Providence, R.I., after courageously battling a series of illnesses. Born on April 19, 1960, in the vibrant community of Dorchester, Danny's journey through life was marked by his infectious laughter, his adventurous spirit, his athletic prowess, and the profound kindness he extended to everyone he met.
Danny was the beloved son of James and Carol Hoban, who instilled in him the values of family and compassion that he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Don Bosco High School in 1978, Danny dedicated over two decades of service as a security guard at South Shore Hospital, where he became a cherished member of the team. Colleagues often remarked on Danny's unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of patients and staff, and his ability to lighten the mood with his quick wit and easy smile.
An avid sports enthusiast, Danny was a star on every field of endeavor, channeling his competitive spirit and camaraderie into every game. His love for Boston sports was unparalleled, and he was a die-hard fan who lived and breathed the triumphs and heartaches of his favorite teams. Danny's passion for sports was only matched by his creative talent as an artist. His paintings were a testament to his attention to detail and the love he poured into every brushstroke.
Danny's life was one of many joys, including the pride he took in his meticulously maintained car and the freedom he felt riding his beloved Harley. His heart held a special place for animals, and his kindness extended to all creatures, great and small. However, the brightest lights in Dan's world were his children, Bridget and Rachael, and grandchildren, Isabelle, Quinlin, and Ronald III. As a loving father and grandfather, he shared with them his zest for life and his boundless love.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his family: his parents, James and Carol Hoban; his former wife and longtime friend, Katherine Rondinelli; his devoted children, Bridget Robitaille and her husband Ronald Jr. of
Providence, R.I., and Rachael Hoban of Quincy; his siblings, James Hoban III and his wife Patricia of Pembroke, and Lynne Marie Hoban of Quincy; and his cherished nephews, William and Joseph Hoban of Pembroke.
Danny will be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest, with a loving heart and a caring soul. His sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him, and his adventurous nature inspired many to seek out the beauty in the world. Danny's legacy will live on through his family and friends, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness.
As we bid farewell to a man of remarkable character and warmth, we take comfort in knowing that Danny's spirit will guide us. His laughter will echo in stories retold, his artistic vision in the colors of the sunset, and his love for life will be felt in every cherished moment with family.
Daniel L. Hoban will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life's journey will endure forever.
