Daniel Masterson, 81, of rural Evansville, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 8, 1943 to the late Robert Levi and Anna Mae (Hall) Masterson. He retired from Xerox after 32 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Dan was an active volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a faithful member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Dan was inducted into the Brute` Society of the Diocese of Evansville for his service to the church.
Surviving Dan are his wife of 26 years, Dolores (Rexing) Masterson; daughters, Carrie Masterson, Dana (Ken) Harrison, Jodie (David) Brown and Hilary (Curt) Duckworth; sons, Stephen (Gihan) Masterson, Walter (Karen) Masterson, Dan (Allison) Masterson, Nick (Laura) Masterson, Luke (Andrea) Masterson and Robert (Stephanie) Masterson; stepchildren, Julie (Gary) Gentil, Cathy Plump, Randal (Brenda) Plump and Ron Plump and one sister, Mary Ann Boone. Also surviving Dan are thirty-three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Rita (Williamson) Masterson in 1996; by two brothers, Richard and Robert Masterson and a granddaughter, Lilian Duckworth.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Philip Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. Philip Church, 3500 St. Philip Road, S.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to St. Philip Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospice and staff for all of their kind and compassionate care.
