Darlene Trinette Feinberg Goldberg, 84 of Memphis, Tn., passed away on Sept. 24, 2023.
Darlene was born on June 29, 1939 to Florence Arian and Phillip Feinberg in Cape Girardeau, Mo. after graduating from Blytheville High School in 1957 she went on to attend the University of Miami for her freshman year.
She married Melvin H. "Bubba" Goldberg June 28, 1959, going on to have two children, Phyllis Heather Goldberg Greenberg and Forest Arthur Goldberg.
For many years while her children were young and growing up, she was a proud housewife and extremely active volunteer. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 15 years for Phyllis and a Den Leader for 2 years for Forest. She also volunteered at the Girl Scout office for years on the cookie committee. At her children's elementary, Jr. High and high schools she was a room mother, PTA president for six years and Booster Club President. She also volunteered in the greater community. Eighteen years with Friends of the Orpheum. Ten years with Theatre Memphis, Playhouse on the Square and Circuit City Theatre. She volunteered for six years with the Children's Museum. She volunteered for all of the Wonder Series when it was here in Memphis as well. Darlene was a docent at Temple Israel, was the clothing chairman for Sisterhood and helped with other projects. She volunteered at Plough Towers for 10 years (where she later in her life lived). She was the First Lady of the Memphis Bass Club in 1975.
She worked for the B'nai B'rith Home as the Activities Coordinator for several years then became a Nursing Assistant at Baptist Memorial Hospital for twelve years.
Along with spending much time as a volunteer she was the first known Uber service but she only collected hugs and kisses from her children and grandchildren as payment!
The things she loved to do the most were traveling the world, horseback riding, teaching archery, bike riding, skating, swimming, tennis, hunting, knitting, beading, reading, and her newest hobbies were the computer and Facebook!
She had such a big heart and a sweet way with all she loved. Growing up she always welcomed our friends into our home and made them feel like family. Even later in life when she became a Nana to Mason and Leah, she always had a smile for their friends as well. She will be greatly missed by many who loved her dearly.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents Phillip and Florence Feinberg, and her brother Maurice "Moe" Feinberg. She is survived by Manley Sr. Feinberg (Diane), Annette Feinberg, sister-in-law, Phyllis H. Greenberg (Jay), Forest Goldberg and 2 grandchildren; Mason and Leah Greenberg.
There will be a funeral service held at Temple Israel Cemetery Thurs. Sept. 28, 2023 at 3:30 pm. 1708 Hernando. Shiva will begin after the service til 8pm Thurs. and continue for various times until Sunday Oct. 1st.
