Darrell Jones, 57, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on January 27, 2025. He was born on June 9, 1967, in Long Beach, California, minutes after his twin sister, Donna, to Carlos and Eula Mae Reese Jones. Darrell's life was marked by his warmth, humor, and unique ability to brighten any room with his stories and laughter.
Darrell graduated from Fletcher High School in 1985 and went on to attend Florida Junior College. His career took him to several well-known employers, including AT&T, Convergys, and Comcast in Jacksonville, Florida, as well as Comcast and Elevance Health (formerly Anthem) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he made many lifelong friends and worked with dedication and passion. He had a calming presence that would easily defuse tense situations with frustrated customers.
Darrell enjoyed movies, football, and traveling. Darrell was a huge Star Wars fan and often traveled to Star Wars conventions. He also enjoyed superhero-themed films and for many years he went to the movies on almost a weekly basis. He was such a movie fan that a local radio station in Jacksonville invited him to do on-air movie reviews for several years. His passion for storytelling and art, particularly his flair for drawing, revealed his creative spirit. His sense of humor and ability to connect with others left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Darrell was preceded in death by his beloved sister Cassandra Faye Jones Clark, his brother-in-law Harold Clark, and his mother Eula Mae Reese Jones. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Liberato Jones; his father, Carlos Jones; his sister Melinda Jones; his twin sister, Donna Jones Monroe, and her husband, Charles Anthony Monroe; his niece, Gabrielle Elyse Monroe; his nephews, Joshua Alexander Clark and Annastasia Charles Clark, Daniel Terrell Clark and Stephanie Hodges Clark; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many friends who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in his honor. His legacy of humor, kindness, and creativity will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
