Daryl Berger, 72, of Middle Smithfield Township, died peacefully on March 3, 2023 after struggling to adapt to a double lung transplant.
Born on January 25, 1951, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Pauline (Anthony) Berger.
Daryl graduated from Stroudsburg High School, class of 1968, and attended East Stroudsburg University.
He and his partner and friend, Raymond Morris owned and operated Promotional Marketing Consultants for forty-five years.
Ray expressed that Daryl was honest, competent, fair and generous. The partnership lasted this long because they learned to understand and respect each other's abilities, most importantly, there was mutual trust between them. They treated people, business or otherwise, with equal integrity.
Daryl bravely battled lung disease for more than twenty-five years. At a time when he could barely walk up a flight of stairs, he made a determined choice to do something about it. He then dedicated time nearly every day to strengthen his lungs, primarily by walking on a treadmill. This choice significantly prolonged and improved his quality of life for many years, making it possible to continue enjoying his favorite activities. Daryl continued with exercising and the business until he contracted COVID in 2020, which led to the need for new lungs.
He enjoyed fishing especially with his sons since they were little more than toddlers. Year after year he looked forward to being back in Canada in a cottage on a lake fishing and reacquainting with the owners who became dear friends. Daryl enjoyed tinkering in the garage figuring out how to fix things. Most of all, he enjoyed family and friends gatherings and when entertaining at home as his granddaughter Rylei said "Grandpa has to be here, he's the life of the party."
Daryl cared deeply for his family and worked hard to provide for them-a job well done. He was a generous and caring friend and always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years Patricia Berger; two sons, David and Nicholas Berger; one granddaughter, Rylei Clark-Berger; two sisters, Penny Angeline and Caryl Fehr; many nieces and nephews; and two goddaughters. He is missed so much, by so many.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
