David Lawrence Murphy
"Dave"
David Lawrence Murphy, known as Dave to his family and friends, passed away in his home on July 12, 2024, in Gilbert, Arizona, at the age of 70. Born in San Diego, CA, on September 10, 1953, Dave grew up with a deep sense of dedication to his family and career, which was evident throughout his life.
Dave completed his early education at Parker Dam Elementary and Parker High School, where he met then, later married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Webster. He later attended Riverside City College, in Riverside, CA. His career began at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California in 1979, where he started as a janitor. Through determination and hard work, he ascended the ranks to Operator, then Electrician, and eventually became the Station Chief at Eagle Mountain Pump Plant, a position he held until his retirement in 2003.
Dave was a man of exceptional character and integrity. He cherished spending time with his wife and children, creating lasting memories on numerous outdoor adventures. His hobbies included motorcycle racing, hunting, fishing, and camping. Dave's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving family and the many lives he touched. Dave is loved and will be missed so very much by his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ruth H. Murphy, and his children, Kimberly Harris (Raymond), Katie Murphy (Barney, Cutie & Bam), Matthew Murphy (Jessica), and Dustin Murphy (Nikki). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kayla Olmstead (Jeremy), Karley Call (Hunter), Taylor, Kale, Mackenzee, and Davin Murphy, as well as his great-grandchildren, Mavis Ruth Olmstead, David Knox and Raymond Crue Call. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Murphy (Susan), and sisters, Cynthia Murphy and Julie Bratt (Benny) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Janet Murphy, his sister Kitty, his grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
A service to celebrate Dave's life will be held on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 10 am at The Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 777 East Elliott Road, Gilbert, AZ 85296. Family Burial & Cremation in Mesa, AZ, is assisting the family during this time.
