David A. "Dave" Gleason

David A. 'Dave' Gleason, age 72 of Corning, NY passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on April 13, 1953 in Wellsboro, PA, he was the son of the late Lyle and Violet (Kimble) Gleason. Dave was a graduate of Elkland High School, class of 1972.
Dave married Ellen Buck on March 8, 2003. He worked as an assistant to the supervisor for Corning, Inc. Diesel Plant, retiring in 2010 with 38 years of service.
From an early age, he spent his days helping on neighbors' farms and making maple syrupa tradition close to his heart that he continued into his later years. As the years went on, he ran his own farm, raising beef cattle and honey bees with pride and dedication. He was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit, always ready with a smile or a joke. But more than anything, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildrenthey were his world, and he happily let them get away with just about anything.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Gleason of Corning; children: Benjamin (Penny) Button of Tioga, PA, BobbieJo (Joseph) Brooks of Millerton, PA, James West of Wellsboro, PA, Michael Gleason of Lawrenceville, PA, Jessica Gleason of Galeton, PA; grandchildren: Kreg VanZile, Adam (Rachelle) Brooks, Nikita (Troy) McWhorter, Rusty Brooks, Tammy Brooks, Daron Hanes, Justin Button, Michael Cael Gleason, Ashley Hanes, Trinity Button, Xander Matthew Gleason, Kyra Lehman, Tye Button; great grandchildren: Mason McWhorter, Julian Burrows, Jay Burrows, Kayden VanZile, Madalynn McWhorter and Ansley VanZile; siblings: Joann Tombs, Sandy West, Beverly Sanders, James Gleason, Juanita Gleason; great aunt, Alice Kimble; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gleason; and granddaughter, Stephanie Waters.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
