David Lee Hadley, affectionately known as Dave to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in
Holt, MI, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 11, 2024. He was born in Greenville, MI, on November 20, 1952, the son of the late Geryl and Neva (Johnston) Hadley. Dave's journey through life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a friendly spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Dave's early life was filled with the joy of young love when he met his soulmate, Martha, at the tender age of 15 at the Ritzee Burger in Downtown Lansing. Their love blossomed, and they were united in marriage on April 22, 1971, in Lansing. Together, they celebrated 53 years of marriage, building a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
A dedicated worker, Dave spent many years on the assembly line at Lansing General Motors, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Later, he continued to showcase his skills and reliability as a Boiler Operator at Ingham Regional Medical Center/McLaren Greater Lansing, from which he retired. His colleagues remember him as a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and share a kind word.
Beyond his professional life, Dave was a man of many interests. After retirement, he found great pleasure in the tranquility of hunting and fishing, and he was an avid reader, particularly enjoying books on American History. However, the true highlight of Dave's life was the time he spent with his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he had with them.
Dave's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha, and their three children, Matthew (Jessica) Hadley, John Hadley, and Renè Hadley. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren, Nora, Lena, Donovan, Dominic, Carter, and Luke, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and guidance. Dave also leaves behind two sisters, Joyce (Greg) Kuhl and Karen (Timothy) Waypa, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly.
In his later years, Dave faced the challenges of declining health as he struggled with COPD. Despite this, he maintained his positive outlook and continued to inspire those around him with his resilience and unwavering spirit. We find solace in the belief that Dave is now breathing easy in the arms of our Lord and Savior, free from the earthly constraints that once held him back.
Dave's kind, generous, and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community. His ability to connect with people, his genuine interest in their lives, and his readiness to help others are the hallmarks of a life well-lived. Dave's absence will be deeply felt, but his influence will live on through the countless lives he touched.
