David Brock Lemke, 73, of Grinnell died Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Grinnell Regional Health Center in Grinnell. He was born on December 11, 1951, in Grinnell, the son of Ralph and Shirley (Ogan) Lemke. On September 9, 1972, he was united in marriage to Linda Kay Keasling at Ewart, Iowa. Early on David worked at Donaldson Company in Grinnell. He later worked as a janitor at William Penn University. He also worked at Vicker's Gas Station, Penn Central Mall, and owned and operated a lawn care and snow removal business with his father in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed dancing at Tama, riding motorcycles, camping, and having coffee and people watching at McDonalds in Grinnell. He also enjoyed looking for bargains at flea markets. He delighted in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His family includes his dear friend Debbe Yakle of Marshalltown; two daughters, Patricia (Jason) Harland of Oskaloosa and Angie Sims (Jim Jurgensen) of Sully; a son, Lance Lemke of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren, Kearstin Shipman, Austin Lemke, Brett Woods, Zach Kitzman, Chase Anderson, Electra Anderson, Lance Teeter., Paige Trusty, and Kodie Waggoner; many great grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip (Cathy) Lemke of Newton and Lyle (Mary) Lemke of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Deb (Marv) Arment of Montezuma, Rose Long of Missouri and Melody Bennett of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lemke on February 6, 2015; his parents; two sisters, La Wanda Lemke and Gloria Lemke; and two brothers, Darrell Lemke and Daniel Lemke.
As was David's wish his body has been cremated. A time of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. A time of open sharing will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
