DAVID A. MAYS, age 76, of Troy, died Friday, February 14, 2025, at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born in Piqua, OH on May 19, 1948 to the late Charles and Mary (Arnett) Mays. On December 1, 1972, in Piqua, he married Jeannette R. Sheets she preceded him in death. David is also survived by one son: David A. Mays, II, Sidney and three brothers and sister-in- law: Steven Mays, Fletcher, OH, Richard Mays, Troy Oh. and Justin and Erma Mays, of Piqua, OH. And two sisters Pamela L, (Dean) Roberts of Sidney, Oh. and Robin L Burton of Troy Oh. he has ten nieces and nephews, eighteen great nieces and nephews, fifteen great-great nieces and nephews and two special great nieces Hayli Pitcock and Jordyne Carey. He was preceded in death by one stillborn daughter, one brother Rex Allen Mays, and one brother-in-law David A. L. Burton. David graduated from Piqua High School, Piqua, OH. He was a laborer at Evenflo, Piqua. David proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during the Vietnam War in the 101 Airborne. He was missing in action and received two Purple Hearts. He loved fishing, taking pictures and watching trains. Friends and family may call at Melcher - Sowers Funeral Home on Monday February 24, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00AM, with a Funeral Service following at 11AM. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial in Covington Oh. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.melcher-sowers.com.
