Alexander –David "Papa" Edward Whetsel, 72, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Carepartners Solace Center.
A native of Delaware, Ohio, he was a son of the late Barney Elliott Whetsel and Ann Louise Whetsel. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Whetsel.
David retired form banking, but always considered his family to be the most important part of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa to not only his own grandchildren, but to many others in his life. David loved the Lord and served as and Elder at his church, Seacoast Church.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Cathy Richardson Whetsel; daughters: Lori Ahn, and Kim Perkins and husband John; grandchildren: Shelby and husband Anthony, Micah, Ella, and Chloe; sister, Mary Ann Whetsel; and niece, Lisa and husband Pat.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Seacoast Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Seacoast Church, 123 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
