Deanna Rovene Allen, 79, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette. She was born June 7, 1944, in Frankfort to Leon Faye and Mary Rovene (Bates) Jackson. She married Samuel E. Allen II on June 6, 1965, and he survives.
Deanna was a graduate of the class of 1962 of Frankfort High School, the last class to graduate from Old Stoney. She worked at Purdue University in the Chemistry Department when she was out of High School. She then worked as a Special Education Teacher at Clinton Prairie before she went on to work for the Purdue Extension Office. She went back to work for Purdue University as secretary for Youth Development in Ag Education until she retired in 2013.
She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church where she sang and directed the choir and taught Sunday School, the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worth Matron, 4-H Leader for 45 years, served two terms on the Clinton Prairie School Board, and was named Queen of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority 18th annual Crippled Children and Adult’s Benefit Ball. She was enjoyed collecting lighthouses and was an avid reader. But her passion was her family. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her family and making lasting memories.
Along with her husband of 58 years, Deanna is survived by her children, Rob (Dori) Allen, Heather (Andy) Foster; sister, Trudy (Dan) Poore; grandchildren, Miles (Megan), Chris (Christina), Austin, and Travis Biery, Maddie Allen, Noelle and Sydney Foster; and great grandchildren, Branson and Bradley Biery, Preston and Vayda Biery, Rovene and Rhea Biery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Lee Jackson; and Daughter, Kimberly Sue Biery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 10am until the time of the service at 2pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Craig Overman will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Deanna’s honor to The Red Barn Summer Theater, Clinton Prairie High School Theater Program, or 4-H. In honor of Deanna, the family ask that you wear something blue or with a lighthouse and dress casual.
