Deborah (Debbie) J. Hurley ( Steffen ) passed away November 30, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born in Anderson, IN on September 29, 1948. Debbie was the only daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Steffen. She lived in Fortville, IN most of her life. Debbie graduated from Fortville High School (Mt. Vernon HS) in 1966. She attended Indiana Business College where she received an associate's degree in Data Processing while working at Wabash Life Insurance. Debbie was an entrepreneur at an early age. She initiated a company along with 2 others named United Bonding Company – a remote data processing center for insurance companies. She married Patrick J. Hurley in 1967 and was blessed with their only daughter Steffenie Hurley in 1968. Debbie had fun in the years following as a brownie leader, a lunch aid and worked at a couple of local retail outlets. In later years, Debbie owned and operated a dry cleaning franchise, Star Cleaners. At one time, she was managing 9 different locations. She sold her business and retired in 2009 and moved with her husband to Indianapolis to be closer to her daughter and family.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 55 years Patrick J. Hurley, daughter Steffenie Salzmann(husband, Eric) and grandson Hank Salzmann.
Arrangements are in the care of Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care.
