Dell Yeamans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home on Dec. 21, 2023.
Dell W. Yeamans Jr., passed away in Kansas City, KS on December 19, 2023, at 103 years of age.
Dell graduated from Bonner Springs High School and attended the University of Kansas before being drafted into the US Army in December 1942 for WWII. Dell served in the Pacific Conflict. After returning, Dell joined the local tile setter's union where he retired at age 67.
Dell had two daughters from his first marriage to Genevieve; Patricia Fuqua and Carol Cox; and a son and daughter with his second wife, Shirley Daeffler Fanning- Yeamans, Dell Yeamans III and Della Shaun Yeamans; stepsons, Harlan, Darwin and Rick Fanning, and granddaughter, Gina Fanning Sifers, who they raised.
Dell worked hard for years raising blended families and enjoyed hunting when he could make the time. Dell loved to build or remodel houses and built several in his lifetime.
Dell was preceded in death by both of his parents, Dell William and Gladys Yeamans; three sisters, Murl Yeamans, Mildred Frisbee Saul, Virginia Hambleton and both spouses. Dell is survived by all four of his children: Pat Fuqua, Carol Cox, Dell Yeamans III and Shaun Yeamans; grandchildren, Susan Fevurly, Natalie Cox, Andrea Cox, Mathew Yeamans and Joshua Yeamans; great-grandchildren, Ena, Noah, Seth and Braddix; great-great granddaughter, Hunter Yeamans.
Dell was a giver. He would volunteer to help everyone, especially churches, as he donated time and materials to help build or maintain church buildings. Dell loved his tilework and was one of the few people who could take the hardest job and make it look easy. In his work, Dell traveled extensively as he really enjoyed large commercial tile jobs.
