Dennis Leppek of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born May 8, 1949, to the late Agnes and Isadore Leppek, and spent most of his life in Warren, Michigan.

Dennis was a loving brother and uncle, served in the Army in Vietnam, and worked as a machinist. He is survived by his sister, Judith Leppek, as well as numerous nieces, a nephew, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was very proud of them all.

Dennis attended Center Line High School and the University of Michigan. He was drafted at age 19 to serve in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Later in life, Dennis helped fellow veterans at the John D. Dingell Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a peer support specialist, served on the board of Detroit Central City Community Mental Health, and volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Clinic at the VA. He said that while Vietnam vets were not welcomed home in the best way, he wanted younger vets to feel honored and to receive the care they need.

Dennis loved family gatherings, anything Maize and Blue, fishing, movies, card games, gardening, and cooking. He was a fan of all Detroit Sports, and cheered for the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, and Pistons. A Lions Super Bowl win would be a great way to honor his memory!

His family has chosen a private farewell, and Dennis will be interred among fellow veterans at the National Cemetery in Holly with military honors. In lieu of flowers, Dennis would be honored by a donation to support causes that serve veterans and people facing housing issues, including Disabled American Veterans (help.dav.org) and MiSide (miside.org).

Please share a memory with the family here in Dennis' online guestbook.
