Dennis Nix Obituary

Born on November 2, 1936, in Seneca, he was the son of the late David "Dave" Benjamin Nix and Ruby Elizabeth Skelton Nix. Reverend Nix honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a welder and later built a respected civilian career as an electrical supervisor at Duke Power. He also earned an associate degree, a reflection of his dedication to learning and excellence in his work. A proud veteran and a man of deep faith, Reverend Nix was a devoted member of Return Baptist Church, and he served faithfully and shared his love for the Lord for 40 plus years in resort ministries. His life was a testament to service-both to God and to others.
He is survived by his children, Donnie Ray Nix (Wendy) of Seneca and Angie Powell of Seneca; grandchildren, Josh Powell (Hannah) and Olivia Nix; great-grandchildren, Gatlin Powell and Evan Powell; and siblings, Jamie Nix of Easley, Melvin Nix of Seneca, Leon Nix of Seneca, Ralph Nix of Seneca, Mary Holbrooks of Seneca, and Janice Holbrooks of Seneca.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by those who went before him into glory, leaving a strong legacy of faith for his family to follow.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Oconee Memorial Park, with full military honors provided by the Walhalla American Legion Post 124.
