Dennis R. Purcell

Dennis R. Purcell, age 68, of Johnstown, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Born on November 21, 1954, at an army hospital in Fort Leonard, MO, he was the son of the late Raymond and Shirley Purcell.
Dennis attended the Johnstown School District and graduated in 1973. He then went to military police school and became an M.P. in the 709th Military Police Battalion in Germany until his honorable discharge on October 5, 1982. After coming out of the military he became a Johnstown Police Officer and a K-9 handler. Dennis served Johnstown for 20 years before retiring. He coached Johnstown Little League for 10 years while his sons played.
On October 26, 1985, he married the love of his life, Debbie (Dunham) Purcell.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is predeceased by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He left behind his wife of almost 38 years, two sons, Michael Purcell (Kaylee), grandson soon to be, Colt; Scott Purcell (Jill); sister, Christine Purcell; brother, Raymond Purcell Jr. (Diane); brother-in-law, Kenneth Dunham (Martha); aunt, Ruth; and many cousins.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
