Dennis Merton Walton (born June 16, 1935) passed away January 17, 2024, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Frances Walton and infant son Stephen Dennis Walton. He is survived by his 7 children and their spouses-Robert (Karla) Walton, Jeffrey (Judylynn) Walton, David (Kay) Walton, Shari (Wayne) Owens, Gary (Faith) Walton, Amy Walton, and Jennifer Walton-14 grandchildren and their spouses, and 29 great-grandchildren.
He leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and faithfulness to his Lord. He trusted Christ as his Savior as a teenager and dedicated his life to ministry. He served the Lord as a pastor for 42 years and as a field director for Baptist World Mission for 12 years. He loved pastoral ministry and missions work. After the passing of his wife, he lived 10 years in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia, serving missionaries and ministering to the people of SE Asia. Upon his retirement, he preached as often as the Lord allowed him until his health declined. He is loved and missed by his children, grandchildren, and friends all over the world.
"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold" (Proverbs 22:1). Thanks, Dad, for giving us a good name.
On Friday, January 26, 2024, a reception will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Fourth Baptist Church, Plymouth, Minnesota, and a memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Family burial service will be at 2:30 at Grandview Park Cemetery, Hopkins, Minnesota.
